This is an original painting, 5"x5" acrylic and paper on 1.5" deep cradled panel. The sides of this piece are wood that's been sanded and finished with clear wax, so the piece can be hung without a frame (or it can stand alone on a shelf). The painting itself is finished with a UV varnish, to protect the surface and give it a beautiful sheen.

This painting is the last of a series of eight. Inspired by a little pack of beautiful decorative papers I got on a trip to Tokyo. I wanted to make some simple, small pieces that featured them as much as possible. On each piece I used a silhouette of Sutro Tower as a focal point, picturing it rising partially obscured above the fog, with the pattern serving as the sky.
