Waggle Dance 8"x10" Original painting
Waggle Dance 8"x10" Original painting
This is an original painting, 8" x 10" acrylic and fabric on 1.5" deep cradled panel. The sides of this piece are wood that's been sanded and finished with a clear wax, so the piece can be hung without a frame.
It's said that honey bees communicate with each other via a waggledance, a series of movements that indicate how far away and how good a source of food is. The bees learn the dance from others in their hives- bees that don't get a chance to follow other bees first perform more disordered dances. Although I depict a single bee, the collective nature of the hive was in my mind as I created this piece.
