I'm heading to Japan!
Dear friends,
I'm brimming with excitement for my trip to Tokyo next week. My partner and both our teenaged kids are coming, and I am keen to explore the city with them:
What fabrics speak to teenagers in Nippori Fabric Town, with textiles from traditional to pop-art?
Will they find awe in the ancient shrines that hide in the corners and dominate the tourist trails?
Will they love - or hate - the enormous Tokyo Station, with its subterranean bustling streets?
My previous trips to Japan have given me a deep love for my destination, but in familiarity, we often take details for granted. Seeing my own child, whose perspective has taught me so much, experience this amazing city - that ought to be magical. I'm sure I'll return home more inspired than ever.
What should we not miss in Tokyo? Let me know.
Warmly,
Heather
This set of small originals, titled Hōseki, are made with a beautiful fabric I bought in Nippori on my last trip to Japan.
