This is an original painting, 24"x24" acrylic and fabric on 1.5" deep cradled panel. The sides of this piece are wood that's been sanded and finished, so the piece can be hung without a frame. The painting is protected with a semi-gloss varnish.

"Requiem" was created for a group show themed around music. The word comes from the Latin “requies” meaning rest. A requiem can be an offering for repose for the souls of the dead. I pictured a soul flying up from the depths of the ground to the bright sky above, making an exulting loop-de-loop as it soared free of earthly problems.
