I'm honored to be a part of this year's StARTup Fair in San Francisco! Join me and nearly 50 other artists at Hotel Del Sol and visit our rooms, which are each turned into unique solo exhibitions.

"From April 28-30, 2017, collectors, press, curators, and art lovers are invited to shed their preconceived notions of what an art fair is, and to immerse themselves in the raw environments of the artists’ unfiltered worlds. Experience contemporary art in a way that is uniquely personal and lively — via stARTup’s unprecedented access to the artists themselves.

This is my first year participating in this fair and I just can't wait. Find me in Room 304!

Open Studios at Secession Art & Design

  • Secession Art & Design

Secession Art & Design is proud to participate in Artspan's Open Studios again, this year featuring a great show by five different artists.

Secession Art & Design’s newest art collection, Suspension,  features five talented artists that are inspired by daily life. Heather Robinson plays with acrylic paint and stencils to create colorful abstract art that makes every graffiti artist wonder how she got the drips to go against gravity. Old-school graffiti artist Nate 1 captures Mission Bernal in motion with spray paint. Rob Sakovich uses his spray cans to create urban windows that give a 360 to a small slice of SF. Chris Stokes realizes his urban vision through mixed media, collaging literary sources and symbols into an abstract scene that resembles a city neighborhood. Laurence Srinivasan is a model maker who takes the urban theme to a literal space, pouring every detail into his models of landmark structures made of wood and brass. The gallery brings all these together into a story of a changing city where art is alive and vibrant.

Secession will be open 11am to 7pm both Saturday and Sunday, November 5 & 6. Meet all the artists, and take a look at the great stuff they created!

This venue is one of Artspan's neighborhood hubs, showcasing artists who are participating in Open Studios this year. Laughing Monk will be offering discounts on beer all day long, and Artspan is doing a whole Hub Crawl with a trolley shuttle between different venues, so it should be a great time.

Connection Art Opening & 9th Anniversary Celebration

  • Secession Art & Design

Secession Art & Design is proud to celebrate its 9th anniversary show, Connection, featuring painter Heather Robinson and urban quilter Amy Ahlstrom. Both San Francisco artists live and breathe art, experimenting with color, pattern, and texture. Robinson’s studio is nestled in Secession where she has been a resident for 9 years. While at the gallery you can see her process as she paints and pours gel medium through her original stencils, creating art that is alive with decorative vibrancy. Ahlstrom quilts her intricate and expressive quilts in the Bayview. Hand-quilting visual elements like graffiti or pawn shop diamonds, her muse always comes from urban walks and her photography of captured moments. Side by side, both artists play with surface and happy accidents, creating art that is full of personality.

Get to know the artists and their art on Friday, August 12, 6pm-9pm.

8th Anniversary Show at Secession Art & Design

Secession Art & Design’s 8th anniversary show featuring Andreina Davila and Heather Robinson’s vibrant art explores textured pattern and connection. Davila’s series, [i am], abstractly creates topographical worlds that embrace the balance of a shared experience through encaustic and water-based mixed media. Nestled in the gallery, Robinson has created her decorative body of work,Excess, using acrylic and fabric on wood panels. A visual confection of grids, geometrics, florals, and color elevates the decorative in unexpected ways with a beautiful burst of luminosity and life.

Our show at Secession will be on display through Sunday, September 27 - hours are Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 7pm.
